WHY THIS BLOG? I have always been passionate about technology, both personally and professionally. It is the single most powerful change agent in our global society. It connects us with our family and friends with stunning immediacy. It continues to transform and upend institutions and industries that had previously considered themselves immune to change. It offers us a level of convenience and capability in our daily lives that would have been But there is also a dark side… We are spammed, spied on, and spoofed by a diverse assortment of hackers, thieves, corporations, and governments. The powers most threatened by changes to the status quo are working hard to undermine in the online space the freedoms we enjoy in the physical world. And free access to technology and information is becoming a new fracture point in societies all around the world. The pace of technical change is accelerating all of these trends. The opportunities going forward are staggering, and so are the risks. This blog exists to offer a personal perspective on these changes. I will explore trends, explain technologies, and share some of the various things in my life that I care about or enjoy. And I will no doubt learn a great deal in the process.
